The Trouble with.......
Interesting talk at the ICA tonight. My main thoughts are simply that I find it difficult to analyse something that's fault is on such a base level. I don't think television brain washes people, but it certainly has the ability to evoke emotions in people, therefore it can be mentally addictive, which is terrible. People worry about younger generations becoming accustomed to instant gratification with the rate of information produced by the internet and social media etc, but what about television being an excuse for not living outside of your home, and TV has been around so much longer. Its interesting to think what the human race might be like if television was predominately educational. Never mind going into depth about television culture and the effects of its current offerings, how about the realisation that its filling peoples brains with rubbish on a regular basis, to a point where that is what people want now, its become a culture, to not think, to live in the middle where opinions are pointless because people's minds are made up for them.
