Beautiful Inside My Stomach Forever
I have been developing my work around the theme of food and consumerism. Moving on from the low culture of Wetherspoons and my screen print of a curry club menu, I have turned to my other guilty pleasure that goes hand in hand with a night of alcohol consumption, fried chicken. I have moulded real chicken pieces in silicon, cast them in plastic and then sprayed them gold. I am still experimenting with a display method and also colours, but the initial idea was gold, looking at themes of value. However, I am also interested in how they would look in their natural colour, so they were obviously plastic, like a toy. I was thinking about the aesthetic feel of Jeff Koons' woman in a tub and how the chicken would look in this style, if it was all made out of the same material, so the box would also be fabricated and perhaps a plastic bag too as one rigid object.
