23/11/11 - Artist tutorial with James Richards.
James talked about how I am aware of different aesthetic styles and how to re-produce them. We then talked about the idea of including different versions of the same work within one piece which play on idea of each aesthetic. For example;
- A film shot on a super 8 and a video filmed in HD that share a subject or action as the focal point. Similar to my previous work blue ball in which I used a giant exercise ball to act as a universal object, representing a child-like action.
- a series of photographs, shot on 35mm film, shown against a digital photo frame with pictures from a mobile phone. Again, sharing the same subject matter or set of actions that seem to be the main focus.
